The lab celebrated Matt's 33^rd birthday today in Jerry's absence. Unfortunately, since Jerry locked the liquor in his office while he was out, we don't have any worthwhile pictures to share from the party. However, Bill made a wonderful cake, which was enjoyed by all. Happy Birthday Matt!

Hi Everyone -

Tuzer Kalkan, a former student of the lab who worked on the TRAF4 project, will visit next Monday the 18th. She'll be here to talk to Lidia, Mary and Francesca about hers and their work on TRAF4, but perhaps more importantly, she will be here to celebrate the acceptance of hers and Yasuno's paper to MBC!

To celebrate this victory, AND to welcome our new lab members (well overdue), Julia and I will host a BBQ at our house on next Monday evening. This will include our lab, Bernadette's lab, and any of Tuzer's other friends who may still be around here.

Plan on arriving at my house between about 5 and 6 pm. I will supply beverages and some grilled foods like salmon, avian-based sausages, and possibly other treats. Please bring a dish of some sort, reflecting your native country or culture. That could be either a side or main dish, salad or desert.

Please let me know if you will attend. Your kids, spouses, significant others or 'just-a-friends' are also welcome. We'll wrap up by 9 pm, or when the children go nuts.

I'll post directions and instructions for parking at or near our difficult street location, later.

Francesca has officially joined the lab as our newest graduate student. Congratulations Francesca, we're glad to have you! ...to which she replies, "I'm not homeless!"

Today, Youngja blew up in the lab because there were no unopened bags of tubes left. Apparently, it's not just Lidia. Also, Jerry fixed a dorm fridge. Let's see how long until he stops bragging about it.
